Curtis Bohlman
Surgeon General - Navy

Dr. Curtis O. Bohlman M.D. joined the United States Navy Reserve in 1966 and later volunteered for duty with the United States Marine Corps. He served in Vietnam as a Flight Surgeon for VMO-2 a Huey gunship squadron of the First Marine Air Wing at Marble Mountain Air Facility near Da Nang in 1967-68. In recognition of his service he received the Air Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Fleet Marine Force Combat Operations Insignia, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars in 1975 at Post 2270 in Enid, Oklahoma later transferring to Post 1335 in Woodward, Oklahoma where he achieved All-American Post Commander status and where he maintains his Gold Legacy Life membership. He was Captain of the All-State Team of Post and District Commanders and served as Department Voce of Democracy Chairman for 15 years. He has also served as Chairman of the National Voice of Democracy Committee and the National Programs Committee (twice). He was Vice Chairman of the National Youth Development Scholarship and Recognition Committee, the National Committee on General Resolutions and the National Veterans Service Committee. He served on the VFW National Home for Children Board of Trustees and the Oklahoma War Veteran Commission. He was named Oklahoma's "Mr. VFW" for 2008-2009. Currently he is Chairman of the Department Credentials Committee and is a Founding Director of the Oklahoma VFW Foundation.
Dr. Bohlman received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine in 1965 and earned Naval Flight Surgeon wings from the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in 1967. He practiced general medicine for over 38 1/2 years retiring in 2004. 
He is a Life Member of the VFW National Home for Children and the USMC Combat helicopter Association.
He and his wife Juanita (past National Soloist) reside in Woodward, Oklahoma.
